Look guys, internships are about helping students learn about the industry and provide them with valuable real world experience. They’re also a good indicator of overall company health, like those little fish that hang by sharks or those birds that ride hippos. We’re pleased to have new interns in the office and we thought it would be good to let them share their thoughts on surviving the startup life. Here are a few words from our Social Media and Marketing Intern Dylan:
My summer got off to a wonderful start after receiving the great news from Majestyk that I was offered a part-time internship for the next three months. As soon as I came in for my interview I realized that Majestyk was the team I wanted to work for. Before I was extended an invitation to work for them, my father told me that this would be very different from any regular New York City internship. Since Majestyk is considered a startup company, my dad explained that I would be diving head first into some important work and would need to pull my own weight in order to keep up with the rest of the team. This is exactly what I was looking for because I wanted to finally apply what I had learned in college to the real world. In my mind this was my first true test outside of the classroom.
The part I like the most about my job is that even though I am considered a “Social Media and Marketing Intern,” I still help with many other areas of the company such as editing, blog writing and researching.
My first day in the office, I was immediately thrown into the workload and felt as though I truly had become part of their small but important team. Mainly handling the social media content for Majestyk, my work has been cut out for me for the next three months. The part I like the most about my job is that even though I am considered a “Social Media and Marketing Intern,” I still help with many other areas of the company such as editing, blog writing and researching. My tasks change daily and that is what ultimately keeps me busy and interested. After working with Majestyk for over a month, I realize I enjoy not being just another intern in the office and rather prefer contributing ideas and bringing value to the team on a daily basis.
